  1. social chacteristics and determinants which are not biological or physiological
  2. external to individual 
  3. endure the rest of time goes for generations
  4. coercive in nature 
  5. example : suicide , marriage, wearing formals to job interviews,morality , crime 
  6. morality system of rules, serving the common good
  7. deviance : it is essential and functional later developed merton's strain theory

  • elements of religious life : totemic society of Australian tribe. we are not worshiping God but society itself.
